Rosé 2

$28.00 We said we’d only use varietals you can pronounce. But then again, we aren’t that into rules after all—even our own. So we made this dry, fruit-forward rosé from 52% Carignane and 48% Syrah. “Care-in-yawn” is close enough, but make no mistake, this vibrant rosé is no bore. It’s our new favorite way to kick back and savor the afternoon.

tasting notes

Our 2011 has the quintessential raspberry and blackberry notes of a classic cab, with the complexity of dark chocolate and tobacco.

In other words, a great main course, followed by rich dessert and a Cuban cigar. Doesn’t get much better than that.

So you could go for it with a juicy steak dinner. Or with dessert and artisan chocolates. But, what the hell, this cab is awesome with the whole meal, start to finish.

winemaking info

2011 started with a summer that didn’t get quite as hot as cabernet fruit likes, followed by some good downpours during harvest, which can lead to rot.

So we went to Howell Mountain in St. Helena, where two ideal blocks on a rocky hillside gave us the warm weather conditions and drainage we needed for great fruit.

We aged the wine in 65% new oak to give it just the right amount of smoky flavors. The result is an excellent vintage in spite of—or maybe even thanks to—the weather.
